  1. 1. What kind of riding experience do I need?
All levels of experience including people who have never ridden before can enjoy our trips.
    2. Is riding instruction available? Of course, we offer safety briefing and orientation for all levels. You can learn how to saddle and care for horses if you desire or we will take care of everything.
    3. Will I ride the same horse everyday? Yes, usually you can ride the same horse or you may request a different animal.
    4. Are helmets available? Yes, we provide riding helmets at your choice at no additional charge.
    5. What style of riding, is it Western or English? We ride Western with all new saddles and tack replaced in 2007.
    6. Will my guide or wrangler be with us? A trained Boulder Lake Lodge staff person accompanies all trips to assure your enjoyment and safety.
    7. Can I ride a Mule? We do have a few riding mules that offer a smooth dependable ride, let us know if you would prefer a mule and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
    8. Is my horse gentle? All our horses are experienced in mountain trail riding and well trained. We have a horse for every personality. Many guests comment on how our horses are not like traditional dude ranch horses and you can quickly learn to build a great relationship with your riding partner.
    9. Can we take pictures? Since horses are herd animals all groups must stay together but you can take pictures from the saddle and just let your guide know and the group can stop for photos.
    10. Will my butt get sore? Our riding adventures will make you feel alive and with the great scenery you won't be thinking of your rear. Our saddles have optional fleece pads and taking a break every now and then to stretch and walk around also helps alot. Keeping hydrated by drinking lots of water also helps you feel GREAT.
    11. What ages are allowed? Insurance requires all riders to be 6 years old. We've had many older riders even in their 70's and 80's appreciate the backcountry without having to hike strenuosly. We can help you get up and off your horse, too.
    12. Do you provide saddle bags? Yes, we provide everyone with saddle bags for up to 7 lbs of personal gear such as cameras, water bottles, etc.
    13. What gear and clothes do we need to bring? Long pants such as blue jeans, closed toe shoes or boots, a secure hat, raingear, a jacket or fleece sweater can be handy as mountain weather can change quickly. Extra layers can be taken off and tied behind your saddle. Sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellant, and do not forget your camera. We provide special stirrups called tapederos so you don't need cowboy boots.
    14. Is gratuity included? Tips are welcomed by your guide/wrangler and an apple or carrot are welcomed by our livestock.
