Trips can start at South Pass or Big Sandy on the southern boundary and follow the Continential Divide north to the headwaters of the Green River, near Three Forks Mountain. We will customize your trip for the number of days, and your mileage goals to determine the best start and ending points for this truly western exploration adventure just like the Mountain Men of the 1830's. You will see scenery, wildlife, mountains and experience the Wind River Mountain Range is all its pristine glory. Named for historic explorer, trapper and mountain man: Jim Bridger, the Bridger Wilderness is an incredible journey back in time where man does not remain and is only a visitor to this natural paradise, beyond the roads. No motorized vehicles or equipment, including bicycles or hang gliders are allowed.

Join Wind River Mountain expert, Bill Mehling on this fully furnished guided horse and mule pack expedition into the spectacular southern Wind River Range and its magnificent towering cirques. Bill is making his twentieth trip to the Wind River Range trekking the high country and although he is a bank officer in 'real' life his hospitality, leadership and knowledge will make joining this trip an opportunity that shouldn't be missed. All participants will be provided a private tent, Thermarest sleeping pad, all meals, gentle saddle horse, saddlebags, and pack animal to carry up to 70 pounds of personal gear, incredible fishing, scenery, photography, camaraderie, and memories to last a lifetime. Meet Saturday at dawn, July 12 at Big Sandy Trailhead.
Sat. July 12: Ride from Big Sandy Opening to Skull Lake / Mae's Lake vicinity. Skull Lake has brook trout and Mae's Lake has rainbows, goldens and lake trout. Elevations 10,343. Beautiful cirque.
Sun. July 13: Day ride to Shadow Lake / Billy's Lake . Fairly short ride & beautiful area. Later that day we ride back past Skull lake & go on up to the Pyramid lake area. Shadow & Billy's are brook trout lakes and Pyramid has golden trout. If time allows there is also a trail above Skull Lake that goes up to the Divide. Nice views into the Washakie Lake area of the Popo Agie wilderness across the Continental Divide.
Mon. July 14: Move camp to the vicinity of Little Bonneville Lake/ Sunrise Lake / Rainbow lake. Three different kinds of trout here: Rainbow has rainbows, Sunrise has cutthroats and Little Bonneville has goldens. Little Bonneville has the advantage of having a great view of Bonneville peak which is one of the more distinctive peaks in the southern Wind River Range .
Tues.July 15: Day ride into Middle Fork Lake cirque and possibly go up to Photo Pass on the Divide. Views into the Wind River Indian reservation. Fish Middle Fork and/or Lee Lakes . These are brook trout lakes. Beautiful cirque.
Wed. July 16: Move camp to Lake Victor area. Lake Victor has good fishing for cutthroats. Optional exploration of Europe Canyon and great stream fishing.
Thurs. July 17: Day ride up to Hay pass on the Divide. Nice views into the southern Fitzpatrick wilderness as well as the Indian reservation. Stop & fish Glacier Lake (cutthroat trout)above timberline on the way back down from the pass.
Fri. July 18: Ride out to Boulder Lake Lodge. Dinner and drinks, hot showers, luxurious beds, Stay at Lodge then after breakfast depart Saturday July 19th.
