Our specialty is authentic western hunts for trophy Rocky Mountain bull ELK with excellent success, historically 80%, on respectable branch antlered 5X5 and 6X6 bulls of wall mounting quality coupled with an adventure of a lifetime. Archery or Rifle The Boulder Lake Lodge is one of the oldest and most successful hunting - outfitting operations in the state. It is located in the heart of the Bridger Teton National Forest in the Wind River Range of the Rocky Mountains. The ranch features a beautiful and rustic lodge which serves as headquarters for hunting operations. It is located in the center of some of the state's finest big game areas, at an elevation of 7300 feet. Nothing is more exciting than hearing the bugle of a rutting Elk in the mountains in the fall....an experience in itself you will never forget! Your guide's backcountry and hunting skills will assist you in your pursuit of the magnificent elk. Riding horses and pack mules are used extensively and you will be required to challenge your own skills and abilities while hunting elk in Wyoming with Boulder Lake Lodge for an experience of a lifetime. The hunts coincide with the rut - this timing makes bugling an exciting way to call and hunt this majestic animal.
Boulder Lake Lodge’s deluxe quality Elk hunts are done on horseback from September to early October starting in the bugle season. Our area in the North Fork drainage of Boulder Creek has a good success rate in scoring quality heavy main-beamed trophy Bulls, and is one of the few remaining spots left in North America where the hunter can hunt trophy class Elk in the Rut with a rifle. We have the most remote base camp in the Bridger Teton Wilderness area of the Wind RIver Range of the Rocky Mountains at 9800 foot elevation. This is an elaborately equipped camp with wall tents, wood stoves, cots with new foam pads used exclusively for elk hunting, and this gives us over 100 square miles of prime hunting area which is not used by any other outfitter. The area also provides excellent fishing for cutthroat trout. We hunt out of this camp from September 1st to October 10th. At this time, weather conditions usually move the elk down toward the ranch area. We then hunt out of the Lodge from October 11th to October 31th. We are flexible on this depending on conditions. We also have a number of spike or overnight camps that can be used to access other areas from less elaborate camps.
The area is rugged Rocky Mountain terrain with an excellent mixture of alpine meadows, timbered forests, hidden pockets of lush grass including many lakes and ponds providing vital water for elk and their habitat.
Herds are on the increase and populations exceed Wyoming Game and Fish objectives, and we are seeing a lot of elk during the Fall season.
The state of Wyoming Game and Fish feed grounds ( one of the two within miles of the Lodge) are located nearby (just over the hill from the lodge shown in photo at Fall Creek) providing excellent winter food for elk resulting in high elk numbers and excellent conditions for trophy bull elk. ![]() |
